From the Principal's Desk

A warm welcome to Term Two and a big hello to all our families at Waianiwa School.

At this time like you, we don’t know how long it will be before we can physically return to school.

Therefore we have been working hard to provide you with opportunities to communicate and continue your child’s learning - just in a different way. We understand this may be unsettling and stressful for some and you can be reassured we have tried to make this as simple as possible so both parents and children can engage with myself and the teachers in a meaningful way.

Over the next week you will see on the website a new page header

called Home Learning. If you click on this page it will take you to the class sites for Room 1,2 and 3. This is where you and your child can find lots of learning opportunities.

Your teachers will also be available through a video call called 'Google Hangouts/Meet' and they will invite you to meet up with them and your classmates at a certain time every day.

You will need a Google account to join our video calls. Here's a link to help you create one. https://accounts.google.com/signup The link to the call will be emailed to you by your classroom teacher.

Room 3 - 9.00am, Room 2 - 10.00am and Room 1 - 11.00am. Principal - 1.00pm Starting 16th April.

On each Room’s site, your child’s teachers email address will be available should you need to contact them. We can do this and with your support and encouragement we can give your children a fun and enjoyable experience

until we meet again.

Kind regards, Karen.

Kia Ora, Kumusta, Welcome.

As the Principal of Waianiwa I would like to welcome you all to our school. Our mission is that our students will be confident actively involved learners with the necessary skills to succeed in a global environment.

As a school, we are proud to be over 150 years old and we are focussed on being a school that serves our community in the best way possible. We actively encourage you, as our community, to become involved in the school and to be partners in your child’s learning and to celebrate the successes of this always. We aspire to provide your children with a modern learning environment, with up to date teaching and learning resources and a staff that is dedicated and looks to model the values on which our school is based.

Our school motto, ‘Our Best Always’ is at the heart of our school. These words represent our wish that each individual child strives to achieve to be the best they can be. We aim to teach, support and nurture your child mentally, physically, culturally and spiritually.

We look forward to meeting you and working with you to provide the best possible educational experience for you and your children.

Kind Regards

Karen Wilson
